📍 Aschères-le-Marché
Château de Rougemont
In the Middle Ages, Rougemont was a fief of the lordship of Aschères, but the two domains have often been united, in the course of history, in the hands of powerful families. In the middle of the 12th century, Aubert de Pithiviers was the lord of Rougemont and Aschères, which was inherited by his daughter Isabelle, wife of Guy de Nemours: the high fortified postern with its large ogival doorway, which is accessed by a standing bridge, dates from this period. The rest of the manor was considerably altered in the 16th century by Charles Hotman, Master of Accounts in Paris, Lord of Rougemont.
