Musée Poterie & Forêt

Pottery, which was a major activity until 1914, and trades linked with forest exploitation, are widely represented (through scene reconstruction, models and classified tools) at this museum. There is also a fine collection of "sublets" (whistles) and "bouëlles"(jugs in the form of a dog's head).

Clay and the forest of Orléans are what have supported the town of Nibelle over the centuries! An ancient village of potters, sawyers, pruners and carpenters, Nibelle is now home to a museum which preserves the memory of its glorious artisinal past. Through models, classified tools, and reconstructed shops and workshops (coopers, saddlers, wheelwrights, potters...) the visitor is immersed in the daily life of the villagers and their forgotten expertise. Before you leave, let yourself discover the history of "sublets" and "bouëlles", the pride of the village, a fine collection of which are on display at the museum.
