Augerville-la-Rivière

In a green and watery setting on the banks of the Essonne river, on the borders of the Loiret and Seine-et-Marne, Augerville-la-Rivière is a haven of peace, yet with more than 800 years of fascinating history.

Augerville-la-Rivière is a haven of peace, with more than 800 years of fascinating history, which has preserved a small heritage of great richness: its village centre has kept all its historical character, with its avenue of chestnut trees accompanying the view of the castle, its tree-lined castle square where the church of St-Pierre-St-Paul stands, its ironwork cross, its fountain, the old houses and the remains of the walls that surround it. As you stroll through the streets, the alleys lead to the picturesque hamlet of Mongrippon, the Maison-Rouge farm and its 15th century main building, and the Beaudon mill, now converted into a gîte. The wash-house on the Essonne river, with its small stone bridge with two arches in basket-handle, makes up a charming setting.
