Boiscommun is a pretty little village surrounded by fortifications that bear witness to the medieval past of the commune. Take a few moments to discover the heritage of Boiscommun. Situated on the edge of the forest of Orléans, Boiscommun, which entered the royal domain in the 12th century, was one of the Capetian's favourite places to stay in Orléans; they had a castle built there and granted the town many privileges which attracted new inhabitants. Under Francis I, it was surrounded by a new enclosure, lined with turrets and gates, of which only a few remains remain.
