📍 Nibelle
Nibelle
On the edge of the Orléans forest, the village of Nibelle, where the Rimarde rises in the Templiers pond, has always been closely linked to its forest environment, whose abundant resources of wood, water and excellent quality clay have enabled the development of a particularly active craft industry. Pottery and tile-making, attested as far back as the Middle Ages, have long made the village famous, and one of its specialties was the production of "sublets", imaginatively shaped clay whistles, as well as the famous "boëlles" or dog-headed jugs, beautiful finials and much more. Alongside the many potters, the village's woodworking trades (sawyers, joiners, carpenters, coopers) also played a vital role.
